How matching works

You join a queue and are paired with the next person whose interests overlap and who you have not been matched with recently. Neither of you sees the other's identity. Either can skip, and either can end it.

What Omegle was, and what this is not

Omegle closed in 2023 after fourteen years, and the reason was moderation rather than technology. This is a different product with the same shape: the interesting part of that idea was talking to somebody you have not met, and the part that ended it was that nobody was accountable for anything. We kept the first and removed the second. We are not Omegle, and this is not a revival of it.

Questions

Why do I have to sign in?

Because a ban has to cost something. With throwaway sessions, moderation is theatre.

Can I choose who I talk to?

You can set interests and the matcher uses them. You cannot pick a person — that would be a different product.

What if nobody is online?

You wait in the queue and the page says so honestly rather than spinning forever.

Is this Omegle?

No. Omegle was shut down by the people who ran it in 2023. This is a separate product built by Leumas, and it does not claim otherwise.
