Random chat has a bad reputation and it earned it. Here is exactly what this one does differently, what we keep, what we do not, and what happens when you report somebody.

Everyone here has an account

No guest mode, ever. You are anonymous to the person you are matched with and identified to us, which is the only arrangement in which a ban means anything. A stated minimum age is recorded when a profile is created, and it determines what you can be matched into.

Reporting ends the session and keeps the evidence

One press: the conversation stops, the triggering material and the transcript are preserved, and the report enters a queue that a person reads. You are never re-matched with somebody you reported. The evidence is kept for a stated window and then deleted.

Bans are enforced at match time

Not when a page renders — at the moment the matcher considers pairing you. A ban checked in the interface is a ban somebody can route around; a ban checked in the matcher is one they cannot. Automated image checks run on the video path as it happens rather than afterwards.

We do not record sessions

There is no archive of conversations. What is kept on a report is the material that triggered it plus the transcript of that session, for a stated retention window. Nothing else is stored, and we never store an IP address against a session — counting uses a daily-rotated one-way hash.

If you were banned and think it was wrong

Appeals go to a person, not a form that disappears. A wrongly-banned account being unable to reach anybody is its own kind of failure, and the appeal route is on this page rather than buried in terms.

Questions

Are conversations recorded?

No. Only a reported session has anything preserved — the triggering material and that transcript — and only for a stated window.

How do you stop a banned person coming back?

A ban is on the account, and there is no guest mode, so returning means making a new verified account rather than clicking a button.

Is my IP stored?

No. Usage counting uses a one-way hash re-keyed daily, so a count is answerable within a day and a location history is not reconstructable afterwards.

Can I turn video off entirely?

Yes. Text-only is a full mode, not a degraded one, and it is the default for a new account.
